Simon Says Challenge: Die Cuts or Punches

A new challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog: Die Cuts or Punches!

Here is the card I made:

This card is not really my usual style.  This is actually an acetate card, but I added some patterned paper and some whitewash on the backside so that it’s not clear anymore.  I always struggle with using patterned paper, but I can’t stop buying them because they are so pretty. xP So this was my attempt at using some patterned paper.

I took an acetate card and used a Nestability die (Lacey Circles) to make a window. On the inside of the card, I stamped a Stamping Bella stamp (Mismatch Ketto) using black Stazon Ink.  Then I flipped the acetate and colored the image from the backside, using Sharpies and Bic Mark-Its (a technique learned a long time ago from Jennifer Mcguire).  I then took some white wash spray that I made (using white acrylic paint and some white ink) and sprayed the backside.  I used a fan brush to even out the whitewash to create the white background so that the image pops more, but the card is still a bit opaque.  I used some patterned paper (hmm, not sure which pack as it was a scrap piece in my drawer) and glued it to the front side of the acetate card.  I matched up the die-cut window and used the same Nestability die to cut out the center of the patterned paper.  I flipped over the die cut patterned paper, sprayed it with some homemade purple glitter spray (some Jacquard PearlEx and Jacquard NeoOpaque paint mixed with water) and glued it on the inside.  I added some flowers as embellishments. The sentiment is from an Ali Edwards stamp set (Loving Words), which I embossed with pearlescent blue embossing powder.

lawnscaping and simon says stamp challenges

Finally got some time to play with my new stamp set from Lawn Fawn.  Decided to play along for this week’s Simon Says Stamp’s Challenge (Let’s play bingo – top line across: Ribbon/twine, Gems, Glitter/Sparkle) and for this week’s Lawnscaping Challenge:

Although Christmas is over, Christmas cards are my favorite to make, so, here is another Christmas card:

I inked the debossed side of a Sizzix embossing folder with distress ink and embossed it using my Cuttlebug.  Then I spritzed it with water mixed with perfect pearl. I stamped the two large ornaments from Ornate Ornaments stamp set from Lawn Fawn onto clear transparency and cut them out.  I then added lots of Martha Stewart Glitter on the back using Glossy Accents.  I used dimensional adhesive to pop up the ornaments.  The sentiment is also from Ornate Ornaments.  I used white embossing powder to make it stand out on the red cardstock.  For the final finishing touches, I added baker’s twine, pearl gems, and used a white gel pen for the faux stitching around the sentiment.

I love how this card turned out~ (a rare thing for me!)  It is so sparkly!  Here are a couple of closeups of the ornaments.  Can’t quite capture the glitter, but I love it so. 🙂

Christmas card~

There are a couple of challenges going on right now, and I thought I would participate. 🙂

Below is a card for the Lily Pad Sketch Challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Song or Film Title Challenge. 🙂

Christmas was on my mind, more specifically, the song: “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” popped into my head when I saw this stamp.

Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Cosmo Cricket (I believe the Boyfriend Collection..but not quite sure)
Stamp: Recollections – A Christmas Border set
Ink: Colorbox Aurora (Midnight)
Other: Colored pencils, Glossy Accents, Copic Spica markers, Martha Stewart Glitter, Embroidery Thread, Shrinky Dinks, Fiskars border punch (Threading Waters), pop dots

I colored the birds using colored pencils and added glitter using Copic Spica markers; the stars are made from Shrinky Dinks. 🙂

You can’t really see it, but I added glitter to the star on the ribbon, and put Glossy Accents on top.

papertrey ink, make it monday (one week late)

Last week, Papertrey Ink had a Make it Monday challenge to reuse the same sentiment from different stamp sets over and over to make a card.  I used that to my advantage for my current challenge to myself.  🙂  So, using the same stamp set from yesterday, I made this card:

I used almost all of the stamps in the set~ 🙂  I used different sentiments, but I think it still works. 

Other Products: Pop dots; embroidery thread; DCWV patterned paper; Archival Ink (black); Versafine chalk ink (Ocean depth and Pearlescent sky blue).

small card

Just my submission for last week’s Finally Friday.  🙂  Just used some patterned paper (mostly DCWV, various collections) and a bit of ribbon to create that block of patterned paper on the bottom.  I did a bit of stamping on the inside (stamped “hello” with a Stampendous Stamp).

Wow.. It’s been almost a year since my last post.  I’m not very good at this.. xP

I just wanted to share a card that I submitted for last week’s Finally Friday:

The challenge was to stamp a sentiment on the inside, so the inside is:

Lucy’s Card Challenge, Card 2

This is a card for my nephew. I stamped the letters with these letter stamps (so cute, and on sale!), the dinosaurs are a cute border stamp (from Making Memories?). I spritzed it with Glimmer Mist (LOVE!). The bottom is also a stamp (Hero Arts background). I used glow-in-the-dark paint to add the raised dots. It really glows!

This card was super fast. On the inside, I wrote “explore” with my Copic sparkly pens (you’re going to see a lot of that, tee hee~)

PTI Make it Monday Challenge

So, it’s 2:41 A.M. and I just finished making a card for this challenge.  But.. my camera’s in my car!!  I’m debating whether I should go and get it, but I don’t know how smart that is considering that my car is far away, it is 2:46 A.M., and it’s raining.  😦

I took some photos with my camera phone, but the picture quality is terrible, so this is the only decent one.

I did the emboss resist technique for the flowers on kraft cardstock piece, as well as the background.  The background was originally light blue cardstock. I stamped with versamark ink and then embossed with detail clear. Then I rubbed Colorbox Ink on it (a few shades of pinks and a little blue).  I’m not sure if I like the overall card, but I like each of the individual pieces..

It is way too late to try to figure out what supplies I used. Maybe I can update it tomorrow.

Another card..

This card is for both Lucy’s Glitter Challenge as well as the Caardvarks’ Red Heart Challenge. 🙂

Supplies: Kraft Cardstock, Transparency paper, Sakura White Gel Pen, Glossy Accents, Microbeads, Felt heart buttons (from Joann’s), Buttons (from Joann’s), Fiskars funky heart punch, White embossing thread, Fiskars threading waters border punch, Some scrap polka dot paper (I don’t know from where), pop dots, glue dots, Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday and Ever After double stack, Random Glitter (from a long time ago, I don’t remember where I bought it), Crystal Stickles, Heart Glitter (from Michael’s.. also purchased many years ago).

Here is a closeup of the butterfly (which is cut from the Cosmo Cricket paper):

 

I cut out the paper, added some Stickles, and then topped it with Glossy Accents.  I then added gems for the body.

These are the hearts:

For the bigger heart, I used transparency paper to hold a mixture of glitter and microbeads. (The bottom left one shows the glitter the best). I used Glossy Accents to seal it closed.  With the smaller glittery heart, I punched out a heart using the same red polka dot paper. I then smudged some Stickles on it. After that dried, I added Glossy Accents to make it look like an epoxy sticker.  I liked the result so much I made a few more to use as embellishments later.  x)

A lot more glitter than the last card, no?  tee hee~ Glitter makes me happy……and I need some happiness because it’s raining again. Blah.

Glitter Challenge?

So, I’m not sure about this card, but I wanted to enter it into Lucy’s Glitter Challenge.  Hopefully I will have another card to enter.. especially since I love glitter so much~
