I recently ordered a few Mama Elephant stamp sets, and have been dying to use the new products. I sort of love this card! My nephew is turning one today, so I thought the cute panda from Pandamonium would be perfect~
I tried the two-toned stamping technique (as demonstrated by Jennifer McGuire and Nichol Magourik) on the cute birthday hat from the ME Honey Bunny set. I love the dimension this gives. I lost a few of the white polka dots on the hat, so I used my Sakura white gel pen to bring them out again.
Of course, I had to add some glitter (even though he’s a boy). Look at the close-up of the glittery Wink of Stella!
Honestly, I didn’t think I would really love this product as much as I do now. I thought it was easy to achieve this look using other products (i.e. perfect pearls, Copic Spica, Pearl Ex), but I must admit that I do love the convenience of the brush tip marker! And the glitter – LOFF IT! One day, I will try to do a comparison between the Wink of Stella and other alternatives. (One day..)
Here are a few more close ups of the cute panda (seriously, how cute is he??):
I also made this cupcake topper:
I stamped the panda and cut him out. As an afterthought, I wanted to make him into a cupcake topper, so I put some Tombow Mono Adhesive across the top of a scrap piece of white card stock and placed the panda on top. I then cut around the panda so that it makes a mini-shaped card. This would be much easier with the soon-to-be-released coordinating die cuts. Ahh! I love that panda~~ The “thank you” stamp is from Purple Onion Designs (it was a gift from one of my orders).
I am trying out the InLinkz tool for the first time. I’m a little sad that I can’t link to the Simon Says Stamp store (I guess you have to be sign up for a crafter account and be an affiliate or something?) So I am only able to link the Mama Elephant products. I’ve tried to link to the other products as well.
Paper: Card base is card stock from Recollections (Michael’s brand); Balloons and the ground are patterned paper from an American Crafts Paper Pad (I couldn’t find the collection name on it anywhere. I’m pretty sure I purchased it from Michael’s or Joann) and a My Mind’s Eye 6×6 paper pad (Quite Contrary – also purchased from Michael’s or Joann. I have linked to the SSS store, as I couldn’t find it on the Joann/Michael’s website).
Embossing Powder: Stampendous Sterling Silver
Finishing Touches: Sakura White Gel Pen (I actually got mine at Joann, with a coupon, of course~); Wink of Stella Clear Brush Marker (I purchased the Elegant set, which has the Silver, Black, and Clear. Sometimes, they go on sale on Amazon); paint I made with Pearl Ex Salmon Pink (for the panda’s cheeks); some thread
