sigh

I made the mistake of looking at the videos from CHA. Now I want this (see it in action here). And I also want Glimmer Mist (the chalk one too), Glimmer Glaze, and Glimmer Glam in every color (See a demonstration here).

I stopped looking at the videos.

Sigh…

Another card..

This card is for both Lucy’s Glitter Challenge as well as the Caardvarks’ Red Heart Challenge. 🙂

Supplies: Kraft Cardstock, Transparency paper, Sakura White Gel Pen, Glossy Accents, Microbeads, Felt heart buttons (from Joann’s), Buttons (from Joann’s), Fiskars funky heart punch, White embossing thread, Fiskars threading waters border punch, Some scrap polka dot paper (I don’t know from where), pop dots, glue dots, Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday and Ever After double stack, Random Glitter (from a long time ago, I don’t remember where I bought it), Crystal Stickles, Heart Glitter (from Michael’s.. also purchased many years ago).

Here is a closeup of the butterfly (which is cut from the Cosmo Cricket paper):

I cut out the paper, added some Stickles, and then topped it with Glossy Accents.  I then added gems for the body.

These are the hearts:

For the bigger heart, I used transparency paper to hold a mixture of glitter and microbeads. (The bottom left one shows the glitter the best). I used Glossy Accents to seal it closed.  With the smaller glittery heart, I punched out a heart using the same red polka dot paper. I then smudged some Stickles on it. After that dried, I added Glossy Accents to make it look like an epoxy sticker.  I liked the result so much I made a few more to use as embellishments later.  x)

A lot more glitter than the last card, no?  tee hee~ Glitter makes me happy……and I need some happiness because it’s raining again. Blah.

Stay warm and safe everyone~

Glitter Challenge?

So, I’m not sure about this card, but I wanted to enter it into Lucy’s Glitter Challenge.  Hopefully I will have another card to enter.. especially since I love glitter so much~

Supplies: DCWV Sweet Stack, various gems from Michael’s, Uniball Signo Rainbow glitter pen, color pencils and gamsol, Black Archival ink, Hampton Art SC0248 Cupcakes, pop dots, Cuttlebug Embossing folder

Close up of the glitter:

I’m also still working on the Cards for Kids.  It’s hard to think of new ideas… For now, I’m just stamping/cutting/coloring.. Maybe something will inspire me today.

I’m so sad that I am unable to go to CHA even though I am so close~

It’s been a while.. I was really in the mood to make cards this weekend, but in the end I was only able to make 3.  😦

Supplies: Transparency, DCWV Sweet Stack, Hero Arts CL182, Black Staz-On Ink, Bic Permanent Markers, DCWV Christmas Mat Stack (adhesive), Fiskars threading waters punch, some ribbon.

I stamped on a clear transparency paper, and then colored with permanent markers on the other side.  A technique learned from the awesome Jennifer McGuire.  🙂  I ended up hiding my glue dots with the “grass” and the ribbon.  I like the way it turned out.

My second one:

Supplies: Hero Arts CL139, Hero Arts Misty Garden Background Stamp, DCWV Glitter stack, Sakura white gel pen, Versamark Ink, Clear embossing powder.

I did not like it at all, but when I woke up, it wasn’t as terrible as I remembered it.  I am having a hard time using that background stamp.  Any suggestions?

And finally, I made this with no stamps:

Supplies: Scrap pink paper (don’t know from where), DCWV Sweet stack, Making Memories rub-on, Fiskars threading waters edge punch, White crochet thread, Sakura white gel pen.

I feel like it’s a bit plain and might be missing something (maybe some jewels?) but I decided not to mess with it right now.  Maybe before I give it away I will add something, depending on the recipeint?

So for my new challenge, I want to make cards for the Cards for Kids drive at Jennifer McGuire’s blog.  I couldn’t figure out how to link the specific post, so please check out Jennifer’s blog, and she has the link on her sidebar.  I haven’t decided on how I will tackle this, because I want it to be an on-going challenge.  Maybe one family per month, or just the kids every month, and the families every other month?  I’ll figure it out as I go along..

It’s finally raining here in Southern California.  It’s nice, but I am not looking forward to run my errands.  Stay safe, warm, and dry everyone!

untitled

Yesterday, after church, K and I went to the Getty Villa for the first time.  It was nice, but we both like the Getty Museum better.  But it was a gorgeous day and the villa is very impressive.  The marble statues and the gardens and fountains were all very pretty.  But nothing compared to the sky and the sunset yesterday.  I guess God is still a jealous God and his creation cannot be beat. x)

So pretty!

I also just finished a Christmas gift (I know, super late!) for my friend.  It’s a scarf. I actually really like the way this yarn has different colors that fade in and out. x) I thought of her when I saw this yarn, but it took me forever to make something out of it. Hopefully she likes it.

Happy Monday everyone!

Another challenge?

I didn’t mean to, but I ended up using all scraps for this card (other than the card base).  They are doing a Scrap-Tastic Challenge, so I thought I’d enter into that challenge too.  x)  I’m trying to keep up with the challenges.

Supplies: Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday and Everafter paperstack, DCWV Sweet paperstack (8×8), Ribbon, Sakura white gel pen, pop dots, staples, corner punch

I had some random brown ribbon left (I think from a gift I received recently). And some scraps of paper left (actually, all the scraps are from the cards that I’ve posted prior, hee hee). I put them all together for a wedding card (with a CD) for my friend. I know it’s not a traditional wedding card, but the cake reminded me of a wedding cake. x)  I hope she likes it.

After I took this photo I ended up adding some pink jewels and white pearls to the card, so the final product looks a little different.  But I love this card because it didn’t take long at all~ No fuss, no muss~

Blog Candy

I have been a silent stalker of Kathy’s for a while.. She really has some amazing cards.  She is super talented and the way she colors.. WOW.  hee hee~ Anyway, she is giving away some good stuff on her blog.  Check it out~ 🙂

My First Challenge

Hello everyone~  I am participating in my very first challenge ever!  I’m kind of excited.  🙂

Since it’s almost Valentine’s Day, I decided to do a very pink card.  Here it is in all it’s pink glory:

Supplies: Inkdadinkado Animal Hearts Clear Stamp Set, DCWV Sweet Stack, Warm Red Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink, Recollections Pearl Stickers (colored with Bic Markers), Pink Pen

Here it is without flash:

I found this stamp set at Joann’s the other day (on sale too!)  The rest of the set is super cute, but I couldn’t resist it because of this one stamp:

Isn’t it so cute???  I love it!

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

hello again~

I think it will take a while before I figure out what will work best for me, so please bear with me. For now, I guess I’ll just stick with pictures and descriptions of what I did. 🙂

Here’s a “boy” birthday card. I always have a hard time with boy cards because all my cards tend to be “cutesie.”  I think this one is cute too, but I tried to use more muted colors. But I did sneak in some sparkliness~

Supplies: Making Memories Big Kids paper stack, Making Memories {note}worthy chipboard alpha stickers, Recollections My Little Monsters clear stamp set, Stampendous flock powder, Perfect Pearls, Versamark Ink, Black Staz-on Ink, Colored Pencils, Gamsol, Glossy Accents.  Background paper is Cosmo Cricket.

I love how sparkly the letters are! I actually embossed sparkly black powder onto these:

I love how sparkly it turned out~ The pictures really don’t do it justice, but here’s a close up:

I tried to include all the products I used, but I probably forgot some. I’m sure there is a more efficient way to list items. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

Happy Wednesday!

testing…

Hmm.. I must say that I’m a little scurred.  I’m very new to this “craft blogging” and I’m not even sure if I’ll be able to keep it updated since I am extremely shy about sharing my work.  But, this year, I want to be more productive with my time, so I thought I could start something like this so that when I’m inspired, I can record it for times when I am feeling very uninspired.. If that makes any sense.  I hope that I feel inspired often enough to make it worthwhile to keep this blog.

For now, I guess I can share a couple of birthday cards I made for my brother-in-law and my grandmother-in-law.

I just used paper to add layers for these cards.  I used the Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday & Everafter double deck card (so I’m not sure which stack the paper’s I used are from).

This one was for my grandmother:

I added some detail elements with a white gel pen, and of course ribbon.  The sentiment is also a white gel pen in my own handwriting. The card base is craft card stock, and I believe the size was 4×6.  I kept it very simple.

For my brother in law, I used a brown cardstock base.  I also added a strip of the brown cardstock and I did some stamping and embossing with a Hero Arts Clear Stamps set (I believe it’s a Birthday Set).  I also ended up adding some faux stitching with a white gel pen. I was sort of unhappy with the way the embossing came out.. I wanted it to be clear, but I used a detail white/opaque rather than clear/transparent so it came out kind of smoky-looking. xP  Oh well.  The card base is a brown cardstock, again 4×6.

It also has a starbucks gift card tucked into it. x)  This card did not turn out the way that I imagined because I made a BIG mistake and had to basically cover it up with paper, haha~ But I think I liked the way it turned out in the end (other than the ugly embossing job, of course).

Please forgive the low quality photos. xP  I was using a new camera and I don’t think I quite get the settings yet.  That and these cards were photographed in the wee hours of the night.  Hopefully I get better at this… soon.

Until then, if you happen upon my blog, I’d appreciate any comments you may have.  x)  Thanks for stopping by, and I hope y’all had a very happy and healthy new years!
